Professional

I am passionate about providing individualized, evidence-based care and ongoing Informed Consent.  I adhere to the Midwives Model of Care outlined by the Midwives Alliance of North America.  I do my best to stay current with evidence-based research in midwifery care.

I hold a bachelors degree from the University of Vermont.  I later graduated with another degree in midwifery from the MEAC-accredited Midwives College of Utah.  I hold the CPM designation and a Utah license to practice and hold between 5,000-10,000 documented clinical hours.  I began as a staff midwife for a birth center in Keene, NH while operating a rural Vermont practice.  Once in Utah, I worked for the busiest non-licensed midwife in the state and then I covered a more medically-minded birth center in Layton where we did 60-80 courses of care (births) annually.  I am former clinical director,  staff midwife & preceptor having oversaw the student program at a newer birth center in South Ogden in addition to offering home birth to my clients out of my Salt Lake private practice. I do hold birth center privileges at a Salt Lake clinical site for an additional facility fee paid directly to the site of approximately $1000 in addition to my regular fee. Contact me for details on this – everyone has chosen home birth after we discuss the option.

I offer services to families within an hour of my location, Sugarhouse, in Salt Lake City.

Education

University of Vermont 1992-1996

I graduated from the Kalkin School of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.   Later, I contemplated an MBA and completed masters level coursework in International Business Relations, only to decide a short while later that I wanted to serve women and families as a midwife in the manner in which I was served as I bore children.  Making the shift toward midwifery education and earning another degree was an important turning point in my life and family.

Midwives College of Utah (MEAC Accredited) 2005-2010

I completed an intensive academic program and 1400 documented clinical hours,  earned a degree in Midwifery and the CPM designation awarded by NARM (North American Registry of Midwives).
